Performance Class with Piotr - day 2

This workshop is for intermediate and advanced clown performers who have done plenty of clown training but still feel stuck when it comes to creating original material.

It sits somewhere between a clown workshop and a directing lab.

We'll still do plenty of clown exercises, but the main focus is on turning improvisation into material. There will be less focus on the clown state itself and much more focus on developing original material, building scenes, shaping a show, and learning how to recreate what is funny.

Because this is where, for me, the clown work begins. It's one thing to be funny once. It's another to make the same moment funny night after night after night.

The goal of this workshop isn't to leave with a finished show. The goal is to give you tools you can keep using long after the workshop is over. Hopefully you'll leave with the beginning of something exciting and, more importantly, with a much clearer understanding of how to keep developing it.

Structure

Morning
Clown exercises and improvisation.

Afternoon
Developing and directing material. You're welcome to bring ideas you've already been working on, but we'll also create plenty of new material through improvisation and devising.

Friday evening
We'll finish the week with a relaxed work-in-progress sharing for friends and invited guests.

Who is it for?

This workshop is application only, and the group will be limited to 12-14 performers, so everyone gets plenty of time to work.
