Cathal O' Riordan: Recitar
Thursday 27th August 2026, 6:30pm to 7:30pm - The Bill Murray
Using the theme of Leoncavallo's tragic clown Pagliacci from the Aria Vesti la Giubba, the show deals with returning to performing after suffering tragedy.
In 2022, Cathal O' Riordan endured a marriage break down due to his spouses unfaithfulness, the attempted suicide of his still wife, and then 6 months later, the untimely death of his brother via taking his own life.
Throughout this time he continued to perform stand up comedy, finding it the only place where he could feel happy, and allowed him to be someone else for 10 minutes at a time in a room full of strangers.
Others laughter was the only thing that could sooth him.
The stage became a sanctuary.
The show tries to speak to the beauty of "Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!" (Laughing while you're own heart is breaking) because sometimes the best thing is "Tramuta in lazzi lo spasmo ed il pianto in una smorfia il singhiozzo e 'l dolor" (Turning the spasms and tears into jokes, The tears and pain into grimaces)
