Njambi McGrath Work in Progress
Thursday 3rd February 2022, 6:30pm to 7:30pm - The Bill Murray
Amidst global political turmoil with Britain, America, Brazil and Hungary electing populist leaders, in a hail nationalistic pandemonium, Njambi McGrath draws parallels between the current British political quagmire, of 2020's mass deportation of the Windrush, villainisation of immigrants, the poor, disabled and rampant homelessness to that of her grandmother whose family were deported from their farm by the British, in colonial Kenya, creating homelessness, oppression and exploitation. She explores striking similarities of racial politics implications on blacks, amid growing emboldened racism. Both Njambi and her grandmother were/are comedians because amongst adversity, there’s always humour. "Important Voice" The Times
