Polski Sklep Comedy Night

  • Sunday26/11/2017
    9:15 pm - 11:15 pm

A free comedy night to remember with an amazing mixture of comedians who are not afraid of the native tongue of Poland!

The outstanding variety of acts will be performed in Polish and in English – so no need to bring a translator!

Featuring a special guest all the way from Poland:

Amy Howerska –  An accomplished stand-up and comedy writer.

She is noted for her acerbic wit and excellent story telling abilities, “A one-woman voice machine” (CHORTLE). As well as being a circuit regular, Amy has also worked as a comedy writer for radio 4, ITV2 and Channel 4, as well as popping up in little acting bits and bobs in everything from prime time BBC1 productions to comedy Shorts. She is a festival favourite wracking up performances at Bestival, Secret Garden Party, End of the Road, Mach Fest and Altitude. She also gigs internationally, most recently at the Perth Fringe comedy Festival where she received rave reviews:

“She expertly manages the crowd with an energy that never wavers….Howerska’s charm is Infectious, she’s a gem” ★★★★ THE  Australian TIMES

“A comedian at the height of her powers”★★★★★ – Comedy Corner

Engaging performance and smart jokes from this EXPLOSIVE young act. See her now before she is huge

★★★★ – Fringe Explosion

“Rambunctious and raunchy”

★★★★ – The Reviews hub

Maggie Kowalski – Born in Poland and raised in North London Maggie Kowalski offers an array of perspectives in her stand-up. Polished one-liners and punchy stories merge seamlessly to form a sharp social narrative, with at times surreal elements, but she never leaves you waiting long for the next belly laugh. Light and airy delivery of heavy hitting material has made Maggie Kowalski a comedic force to be reckoned with.

Rita Suszek – Polish-born, London-based stand-up, poet, songwriter and improviser. Her solo show, ‘Fuck It, I’m Thirty’ premiered at Camden Comedy Club in January 2017 –

the follow up show, ‘F*cking European’ will be shown there on the 7th November.

She can be reached on Twitter @RitaSuszek and Instagram @rita_vision.

Pete White – A one liner comic who’s been performing stand up for 4 years, gigging in Berlin and around the UK. His crowd pleasing set of clever wordplay and puns showcases his unique brand of comedy and his love of language.

Having spent years traveling, he’s picked up Spanish in South America, Hebrew and Arabic in the Middle East and more recently Polish… in Canterbury. He’ll explain in his first attempt at performing in another language.

(P.S he’s not fluent in any of these aforementioned languages, but he gets by.

He’s more of a Polyglittle than a Polyglot).

Bartosz Zalewski – Part of ‘Stand-up Polska’ group, a premiere comedy squad in Poland. Already a proven player on home turf, now onto to some bouts abroad. English is not his mothers’ language, only because his mother is deaf. Other than that he is well versed in odd and dry humour, mixed with his long experience and pop-cultural references from all across the Universe. Does NOT drink coffee.
