Jacob Hawley – Fruit Machine

  • Sunday23/04/2017
    7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In this first solo show, Jacob Hawley (Comedy Store King Gong Winner, Amused Moose Laugh Off Wildcard an Fresh Comedian of the year finalist, ★★★★ Brighton Fringe 2016) brings tales of patriotism, wasted liberalism and camels.

45 minutes of introspective storytelling and heartfelt japes from a boy raised in a working-class Brexit town, who now boasts an arts degree, a vegetarian girlfriend and an almost convincing concern for climate change. It’s not quite Billy Elliot but it’s something.

”A more nuanced exploration of youth, half-hearted liberalism, family ties and artistic expression, Jacob Hawley drew immediate and repeated laughs from the crowd. He was dry, perceptive and unexpected. A darn sight more entertaining than the majority of fringe comedians we’ve caught so far.” Emily Steer, Arts Award Voice.
